Disclosure: we make JobTailor
JobTailor AI is our product, so it is listed first and you should weigh that. We checked every competitor's plans and features on its own website in October 2026, and each tool below gets a fair 'best for' verdict. Where another tool is the better pick, we say so.
What are the best AI resume tailoring tools in 2026?
There is no single winner, because 'tailoring' means different things. If you want an AI to rewrite your resume for one job description and let you review each edit, JobTailor AI, Jobscan, Huntr and Kickresume are the closest matches. If you mainly want a score and a list of missing keywords, look at Jobscan or Resume Worded. If you also want applications filled in for you, look at Simplify, Huntr or JobTailor.
Tailoring here means rewriting or reordering the experience you already have so it speaks to one posting: its keywords, responsibilities and seniority. It is different from a resume score, which only grades a resume, and from a resume builder, which only formats one. The best tools work from your real facts and show you what changed before you apply.
How we compared these AI resume tailoring tools
We read each vendor's public pricing and product pages in October 2026. We did not run lab tests, so treat 'invents facts' as a question to ask, not a ranking.
- Tailors to a specific job description: does it rewrite your resume for the posting, or only score it?
- Shows and lets you approve changes: can you see each edit and accept or reject it?
- Invents facts, or not: does the vendor say the AI will not add employers, titles, dates or numbers you did not give it?
- ATS score: is there a match score against the job, and is the full report free?
- Cover letters and autofill: can it write a cover letter and fill in application forms?
- Free plan and price: what do you get at $0, and what is the cheapest paid plan?

JobTailor AI: best for approved changes and one-click applying
We make it, so judge it by its limits too.
- What it does well: rewrites your resume for a specific job description and shows every change as a tracked change you accept or reject. It never invents employers, job titles, dates, credentials, tools or metrics. It also gives an ATS match score with a breakdown, cover letters in four tones, interview prep from the job description, and one-click autofill that attaches your tailored PDF.
- Also included: a free job tracker, job alerts, a free resume builder and 8 languages.
- Limits: it is a newer product with a smaller track record than Jobscan or Teal, and it is extension-first. Autofill covers 50+ job boards and career sites, far fewer than Simplify claims. It has no job board of its own, and the free plan saves only 6 jobs a month.
- Price: free plan with 2 tailored resumes, 3 cover letters and 6 saved jobs a month. Pro is $2.99 a month and Max is $9.99 a month. Yearly billing gives two months free.
Jobscan: best for ATS match reports
- Best for: people who want a detailed match report against a job posting from a well-known scanner.
- Strengths: a free plan with 5 resume scans a month. AI Optimize tailors your resume with in-context suggestions you accept or reject, with a compare view. Premium adds an AI cover letter generator, LinkedIn optimization and Auto Apply, where you review each application before it is sent.
- Limits: unlimited scans, AI Optimize, the cover letter generator and the LinkedIn tool sit behind Premium, which costs more per month than most tools here.
- Price: Premium is $49.95 a month or $89.95 per quarter, with a 7-day free trial offered on the quarterly plan.
Teal: best for organizing a long job search
- Best for: job seekers who want a tracker, a resume builder and AI helpers in one place.
- Strengths: a free forever plan with unlimited resumes and job tracking, 10 templates, the top 5 job-description keywords and a small AI credit allowance. Teal also lists a LinkedIn profile review, an interview tracker and a networking CRM.
- Limits: unlimited AI writing, all keywords and the Match Score need Teal+. Its Chrome extension saves jobs to your tracker, and we found no application autofill in its help center.
- Price: Teal+ is $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days or $79 every 90 days.
Tailor your resume to a real job posting, free
Rezi: best for keyword targeting in a builder
- Best for: people who want an ATS-focused resume builder with AI help writing and keyword targeting.
- Strengths: the AI Resume Writer and Editor are included even on the free plan. AI Keyword Targeting scans the job description and works its keywords into your resume. Pro adds the full Rezi Score, cover letters and unlimited AI interviews, and there is a one-time lifetime plan.
- Limits: the free plan allows 1 resume and 3 PDF downloads, with limited scoring and keyword targeting. Word export and AI cover letters need Pro, and we found no autofill.
- Price: Pro is $29 a month and Lifetime is a one-time $149. Rezi lists a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Huntr: best for a job tracker plus AI tailoring
- Best for: job seekers who want the tracker as home base, with tailoring and free autofill attached.
- Strengths: the free plan tracks up to 100 jobs, with unlimited contacts, an interview tracker, a map view and a free Chrome extension with autofill. Resume Tailor rewrites bullets for a job description and explains the reason for each suggestion.
- Limits: the free plan includes only 2 job-tailored resumes. AI cover letters and unlimited tailoring need Pro. Its sample before-and-after adds specific figures to a bullet, so verify any number an AI adds.
- Price: Pro is $40 a month, $90 per quarter or $160 per 6 months.
Resume Worded: best for scoring a resume and LinkedIn profile
- Best for: getting a score and feedback on a resume or LinkedIn profile before you start applying.
- Strengths: Score My Resume grades a resume out of 100. Targeted Resume is a free keyword scan against a job description, with a relevancy score and AI lines you can copy in. AutoFix rewrites weak lines and you approve each change. It also offers a LinkedIn review, and your first AI cover letter is free.
- Limits: full reports, AI writer features and the full LinkedIn review need Pro. Its keyword scan points to gaps and leaves the pasting to you, and its Pro feature list has no autofill or job tracker.
- Price: Pro is $49 a month, $99 per quarter or $229 per year.
Simplify: best for free autofill on career sites
- Best for: applying to many employers and wanting free autofill on as many career sites as possible.
- Strengths: basic Copilot autofill, a resume builder, a job tracker and Gmail integration are free, and Simplify says Copilot works on 100,000+ company career sites. Simplify+ adds AI tailoring, cover letters, application answers, referral tools and Autopilot.
- Limits: AI tailoring sits behind Simplify+. Autopilot submits supported applications with no review step, which not everyone wants. Firefox support is more limited than Chrome.
- Price: Simplify+ is $39.99 a month, $89.99 per 3 months or $19.99 per week on standard web plans.
Kickresume: best for template-led resumes with tailoring
- Best for: people who care about resume design and want tailoring and cover letters from the same builder.
- Strengths: Resume Tailoring rewrites your resume for a pasted job description at three levels: Conservative, Balanced and Turbo. A report explains what changed. Premium adds an AI writer, an ATS resume checker, 40+ templates and mobile apps, and students can get Premium free.
- Limits: tailoring is free to try, but unlimited use needs Premium. Turbo rebuilds the resume around the posting, so read the result closely. We found no autofill.
- Price: Premium is $19 a month, or $9 a month billed quarterly, or $4.50 a month billed yearly.
Also worth a look: Enhancv and Jobright
We checked these two but kept them out of the main comparison.
- Enhancv: a design-led resume builder. Its pricing page lists a free plan valid for 7 days and one-click tailoring from a pasted job ad. Plans are advertised from $16.50 a month.
- Jobright: lists AI job matching, Resume AI and job autofill. We could not verify its pricing, so we left it out of the tables.
How to choose the best AI for resume tailoring
Match the tool to your bottleneck, not to the longest feature list.
- You want edits you can approve, cheaply: JobTailor, Jobscan and Huntr show suggestions you accept or reject. Jobscan is the deeper scanner, Huntr the deeper tracker, and JobTailor starts at $2.99 a month.
- You mainly need a score and a keyword list: Resume Worded and Jobscan are built around scoring, and both let you start free.
- You want free autofill on many career sites: Simplify and Huntr both offer autofill on their free plans. JobTailor's attaches the resume it tailored for that job.
- You want one tracker for a long search: Teal or Huntr.
- You care most about design and templates: Kickresume, Rezi or Enhancv.
- You worry about made-up bullets: with any tool, check every number, tool and date. JobTailor is built never to add experience you did not give it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI resume tailoring tool?
It depends on the job you need done. For approved, no-invention tailoring plus autofill at a low price, JobTailor AI is our pick, and we make it. Jobscan is the deeper ATS scanner, Huntr and Teal are stronger trackers, Simplify has free autofill on far more career sites, and Resume Worded is best for scoring and LinkedIn review.
Is there a free AI resume tailoring tool?
Yes, several have free plans. JobTailor includes 2 tailored resumes a month, Huntr includes 2 job-tailored resumes, Kickresume lets you try tailoring free, and Resume Worded and Jobscan give free keyword scans. Most cap the AI rewriting, so check each plan's limits.
Can an AI resume tailoring tool invent experience?
It can if it is not designed to avoid it. Any AI told to match a job description may add skills, tools or numbers you never had. JobTailor is built never to invent employers, titles, dates, credentials, tools or metrics. With any tool, read each change and delete anything you could not defend in an interview.
What is the difference between a resume scanner and a tailoring tool?
A scanner scores your resume against a job description and lists missing keywords. A tailoring tool also rewrites the resume to close those gaps. Resume Worded's Targeted Resume is mainly a scanner with AI lines to copy in, while Jobscan, Huntr, Kickresume, Simplify and JobTailor can rewrite your resume for the posting.
How much do AI resume tailoring tools cost?
Prices checked October 2026: JobTailor Pro is $2.99 a month, Kickresume Premium $19, Rezi Pro $29, Simplify+ $39.99, Huntr Pro $40, Resume Worded Pro $49 and Jobscan Premium $49.95. Teal+ is $29 per 30 days. Most offer cheaper quarterly or yearly billing, and all eight have a free plan.
Do I need to tailor my resume for every job?
Tailor it for jobs you really want, and keep one strong base resume for the rest. Recruiters can search an ATS by keyword, and postings reward matching their wording and priorities. A tailored resume does not guarantee an interview, so pair it with a clear cover letter and honest bullets.
Tailor your resume to a real job posting, free
