A free job application tracker with everything you need to actually keep up
Status Kanban, next-action reminders, salary, hiring contact, interview notes — free with no credit card. Use it entirely on its own, or pair it with AI resume tailoring later if you ever want to.
Not a free trial. Free.
Every other "free" tracker means a 14-day trial that swallows your data behind a paywall the moment you're about to interview. JobTailor's tracker is the actual product on the Free plan — no time limit, no application cap, no card on file, no ads.
The paid plans exist for AI resume tailoring and cover letters — features that cost us GPU cycles. The tracker itself is spreadsheets-and-status-chips work; it doesn't need to cost anyone anything, so it doesn't.
What you get, for free
Everything a serious application tracker needs. Nothing you have to upgrade to unlock.
Saved → Applied → Interview → Offer → Rejected. Move jobs between columns as your search evolves. The dashboard chart shows applications-in-flight and applications-per-week.
Every application gets a next action (Prepare interview, Follow up, Send email…) and a due date. The tracker surfaces what needs your attention today so nothing slips.
Track pay bands and Remote / Hybrid / On-site alongside status. Sort by comp when you're deciding between offers.
Name, email, phone for every role. Follow-ups don't need a scavenger hunt through LinkedIn to remember who your recruiter was.
Interview questions, referral background, salary-negotiation notes — free-form and searchable across every job you've ever saved.
Optional Chrome extension saves the role from LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever and 40+ other boards with the JD already attached. Also free.
How to use it in under two minutes
- 1Create a free account
Email + password, or Google sign-in. No credit card, no plan selection. You're on the Free plan by default and it's what powers the tracker.
- 2Add your first job
Paste a URL, or type the company + title. That's it — every field beyond that (salary, contact, next action, notes) is optional and editable inline.
- 3Track what happens
As applications move through stages, update the status. Set a next action + due date whenever you know what you're waiting on. That's the whole system.
Where paid plans come in — and where they don't
The Free plan covers the tracker in full: unlimited jobs, unlimited notes, every column, every view. You never lose access to your data if you don't upgrade.
What Free doesn't include is AI-heavy features that cost us real money — resume tailoring at scale, cover-letter drafts, interview-question generation from a JD, and Job Alerts that watch career pages for new postings. If you want those, Pro is $2.99/mo and Max is $9.99/mo. If you don't, keep using the tracker on Free forever.
Your data stays yours
Compared to the alternatives
Why this one, over a spreadsheet or another tracker.
- vs. Google Sheets — you get status Kanban, next-action reminders, a chart, and a browser extension that auto-fills roles from job boards. No formulas to maintain.
- vs. Huntr — Huntr's free plan caps at 40 saved jobs. Ours doesn't cap.
- vs. Teal — Teal's tracker is free but the salary insights and career features it upsells are separately priced. Ours is priced once (Free), forever.
- vs. Notion templates — templates decay the moment you tweak them. Ours is a real app, so updates ship for you.
Frequently asked
Is the tracker really free forever, or is there a catch?
Really free forever. The Free plan gives full tracker access with no cap on saved jobs, notes, or contacts. Paid plans (Pro at $2.99/mo, Max at $9.99/mo) exist for AI-heavy features like resume tailoring, cover-letter drafts and job-page alerts — none of which are needed to use the tracker.
Do I need to upload a resume or install anything?
No. Sign up, add jobs, done. Uploading a resume unlocks AI tailoring (a paid feature) but isn't required for the tracker at all. The Chrome extension is optional and free — it just makes saving jobs from postings one-click.
Is there a cap on how many jobs I can track?
No cap. Free-plan users have hit a few hundred jobs without issue. If you're saving jobs at industrial scale you'd want the Chrome extension anyway.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Everything is exportable from your account page — one JSON download for jobs, resumes and notes. Nothing is locked in.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
It's removed from our production database immediately and purged from backups within 30 days. We keep no shadow copies, no analytics graveyard, no "soft delete" you have to email support to force through.
Will my applications ever be seen by recruiters or hiring companies?
No. Tracker data lives on your account, isolated by row-level security. We don't share applications with employers, we don't tip off recruiters, we don't run a job board off it.
Do I need internet? Does the tracker work on mobile?
Yes, it's a web app — internet required, mobile browsers fully supported. Native iOS/Android apps aren't on the roadmap yet.
How does this compare to Huntr, Teal, or a Notion template?
Cheaper (free with no cap), lighter (built for one thing rather than an all-in-one career suite), and integrated with the rest of a modern job search (Chrome extension, optional AI tailoring). If you love your Notion template, keep it — this one just doesn't need maintenance.
